Hi Everyone,

Lots of curling happening at the Club !

The Windsor rink of Arnold Burnard, with Shelley MacDougall, Ryan Whitehead and Monica Driscoll, won the Provincial Club Mixed Championship Jan. 27. Two teams from Middleton played with many home spectators cheering them on. The team skipped by Les Smith with Susan Coulter, Irwin Banks and Stephanie Harvey advanced without defeat to the qualifiers. The team skipped by Larry Drew with Cindy Robar, Jim Marshall and Becky Robar secured the Consolation round. Well done, all the participating teams!

The Afternoon League curlers enjoyed the Frank West Spiel which happened today at MCC. The team skipped by Cindy Robar with Carol Mahar, Dan Prought and Kathy McKay earned the right to have their names on the Frank West plaque!!! Son Karl West presented the plaque to the winners. Thanks to coordinator Jean Fry and all the participating teams who enjoyed two games separated by a lovely soup lunch!

The Afternoon League has teams going to Bridgetown on Friday (8th) for the first of two days of Home and Home. Good luck, MCC!

This Saturday, the 9th, sees the popular Valentine's Funspiel, coordinated by Dave and Nancy Acker. Individual curlers with family and friends are gathered into teams with lots of red, pink and hearts on the ice. Two six end games plus a soup and sandwich lunch with heart sugar cookies for dessert. Prizes for everyone and lots of fun!!!!

Last part of news - for all those who miss the Friday night Chase the Ace - there will be a Friday night Social on March 1. A silent auction will be held then....featuring John MacEachern's paintings (hung in the Club) along with a few other items such as pies-during-the-next curling season (Bonnie), a 9-10 lb frozen meat chicken (Kathy & Buddy), a small roll of flooring (McCabe's Flooring), hardcover books, box of ten jigsaw puzzles, and probably some other donated items....food is always good *;) winking (Let me know ASAP).

Note - there will not be the live auction in May this year. All proceeds from the March 1 silent auction will be designated to new flooring for the dining room.

The binder is in progress where names, phone numbers and bids are recorded on item pages and will be in the dining room soon. Some time will be allotted for final biddng on Friday March 1 with the names of highest bidders announced around 8:00. Cash and cheques accepted.....and bring some friends!.Munchies will be provided and the bar will be open. Mark this TGIF date on your calendars!!! More details later.
